Hundred とか、thousand とか数字を表す名詞は、そのまま数字を表しているときは単数形になります。

<誤り>There are two hundreds of students.
ちなみに of は同格で two hundred of students は200人の生徒という意味になります。この表現は us とか these とかが来ると of の形しか使えません。

数字を表す名詞が複数形になる場合
数字を表す名詞は、具体的な数字を表すのではなくて漠然とした数を表すときに複数形になります。
There are hundreds of students on the playground.
That will continue for hundreds of years.
Several や a few に続く場合
問題は several hundred(s) と a few hundred(s) のような場合で、漠然とした数を表しているので複数形にするべきと思われるかもしれませんが、これは数字を表していて単数形にするのが正しいです。
とはいえ実際には両方耳にすることがあります。
<自然>There are a few hundred students.
<不自然>There are a few hundreds of students.
